Woodland Villas

Developed as part of the Eddeva Park Masterplan, the Woodland Villas housing concept responds to the natural settings of the site, developing a housing typology that creates a dwelling enveloped in landscape and planting. Drawing on rural housing styles, and incorporating a verdant, sensitive landscape approach, the woodland villas concept aspires to form a closer relationship between nature and the home.

Each house is separated into two pitched roof forms, breaking down the apparent mass, and creating a staggered footprint maximising opportunities for views of the green landscape. An open plan ground floor incorporates generous amounts of glazing to provide views of the garden area and green landscape beyond.

The house design aims to maximise the opportunities for residents to gain access to, and enjoy, the natural surroundings. Pocket patio spaces create amenity space enveloped in a diverse collage of planting and landscape design. An open plan ground floor enables the living spaces to connect directly to these exterior amenity spaces, strengthening the relationship between interior spaces and countryside.

Landscape
The landscape design (by Farrer Huxley) threads planting through the housing group, creating a natural setting for each house. Pedestrian paths from the housing group bleed out into a band of green community space and tree planting. Fencing and hedge rows are staggered and curved to blur the boundaries between the home and the natural landscape that surrounds the site.
